Become a BBCC Volunteer
Becoming a BBCC volunteer is not difficult. You may offer your services via email or in person.
However, we do ask that you specify the number of hours and the duration of your commitment,
as our program is dependent upon our volunteers and their commitments. We also ask that our volunteers make
some effort to speak in two languages, because this is what we are all about.
Our number one priority, of course, is finding volunteer English and Spanish teachers,
but we also need other kinds of teachers or teacher teams to teach Mexican dance, art,
cooking and cultural history classes.
We need volunteers for all sorts of other tasks as well; some of them short term and others ongoing.
Here's a list. We hope something here tickles your fancy.
Teacher Aids
An aid helps the teacher organize and deliver the class; however, an aid does not have the primary responsibility for developing the lesson plans and executing them. This is a wonderful job for someone who wants to learn more about teaching or for someone who just enjoys working with students in a learning environment.
Administrative Assistants
Our administrative assistants do not teach, but they do take care of the front office and assist the Director in a variety of tasks, ranging from photo copying to searching the internet to creating fliers, signs, cards etc. This is a great job for someone who craves variety and would like to learn new computer skills.
Computer Hardware Gurus
Because all of our computer and other electronic equipment is used and constantly being added to, we need a volunteer who will regularly monitor our systems and report needed components and ways in which we can improve our operation.
Handymen
The BBCC needs volunteers who can handle light carpentry, painting and other building maintenance and improvement tasks.
Photographers
We welcome volunteer photographers with digital cameras who can help us capture some of the magic of our center when we are otherwise engrossed in making that magic. We use photos for PR and advertising purposes and also sometimes as gifts to the children and their families.
Event Coordinators
The BBCC typically has a Family Night at the end of each of the sessions for our ninos. The purpose of these parties is to afford the children opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned to their parents and to give the parents opportunity to meet the teachers and some of the other people involved in running and developing the Center. We hope to have other events in the future, particularly fund raising events.
Fund Raisers
The BBCC is always interested in volunteers with fund raising expertise and would like to reach a point in time where we had a pool of folks working with us to generate funds for the Center.
