Spanish Classes

Instructor:  Prof. Jorge Soria

Jorge has been teaching Spanish for over 20 years, having earned his degree in Letras Hispanas at the University of Guadalajara.  A nationally recognized political cartoonist, Jorge uses cartoons, music, poetry and games along with traditional methods to meet each students' needs and make language learning fun.  Be a part of the bilingual community at the BBCC and take advantage of our many levels of study, from once weekly to three times weekly for every level of proficiency:  The schedule, as of Monday, October 31, is as follows:

Three classes weekly:

Beginning:  M-W-F 10:30-12:00

Intermediate:  Tu-Th-Sa  11:00-12:30

Advanced:  Tu-Th-Sa  1:00-2:30

One class weekly:

Beginning:  Tuesdays @ 9:00-10:30

Intermediate:  Thursdays @ 9:00-10:30

Advanced:  Saturdays @ 9:00-10:30

Class times may be altered depending on scheduling needs of the group.

Classes are $110 pesos each with a maximum group size of 10 students.  Students may purchase a block of 10 classes and receive the 11th class free.

Yoga

Instructor:  Enrique Bernal

Mondays and Fridays, 10:00-11:30am

900 pesos for an 8-week series or 150 pesos/class

Enrique Bernal is bilingual and comes to us recommended by BBCC Board Member, Flor Hernandez, Artist, Publicist, Reike Master and yoga practitioner. Coming from Mexico City, where he studied and practiced Janzu therapy, Vinyas Ashtanga  and Hatha Yoga, Enrique has achieved international certification (RYT200) through the Yoga Alliance. Currently he is teaching at Los Flamingos.

Enrique will be teaching Hatha Yoga at the BBCC and is more than willing to teach two different classes to accommodate the differing levels of strength and mobility found among our population. He will even do a class on “chair” yoga if desired. Enrique is also a vegetarian and an accomplished vegetarian chef, and we’re already talking about a vegetarian cooking class in the future. We are most fortunate to have him and especially grateful to Flor Hernandez who found him for us!

Computer Workshop

Want to know how to do spread sheets, attachments, save pictures to files, or insert pictures into your Christmas letter?  She is the one that can show you this and more. You can learn Picasa easily and Marylou has taught for the BBCC the past 3 years and now can offer her knowledge to you at your place of business, at your home quickly to manage your photos. History of Mexican Music

Noble "Horacio" Dunson discusses Mexican music history Wednesday, January 18th at the BBCC.  Food & beverage vendors will be there between 6-6:30.  Presentation @ 7:00pm

International Cooking Class

Coordinator: to be announced.

When: 2^nd and 4^th Fridays of each month from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Cost: $200 pesos per class per student, including drinks. Come and sample the delicious dishes offered by guest chefs from various nationalities. Last year we covered German, Chinese, Russian, Irish, and Mexican and more.  You will learn ingredients, and how to prepare the featured dishes as well as get a copy of the recipe and a brief background of the featured cuisine. It is a great way to spend a relaxing evening while meeting new friends and visiting old ones. Reservations are due the Wednesday before the class and fees can be paid at the class.

Conversation Café:

Moderator: Robert Ortlieb

When: Saturdays 10:00am – 12:00 noon

Cost: Suggested donation is $50 pesos helps cover the cost of coffee and overhead.

Come and enjoy a conversation in your non-native language. Informal and fun, this is your chance to practice what you have learned in Spanish or English classes at the BBCC or elsewhere.
